Henry Ford made a car in 1941 out of hemp sisal and wheat straw
The video will take a minute to load the 5MB. Hemp Car . Tell your friends. Hemp is illegal not because its a harmful drug (which its not). Hemp was made illegal to monopolize the fiber industry. A synthetic man made marvel called Nylon was being developed in the early 1900s. Nylon is synthetic hemp.
A monopoly was setup when the US treasury and the major plastics corporate giant started producing synthetic hemp called nylon and making the natural fibers of hemp illegal 1st in the US and then around the world (thru the United Nations) in 1962. Harry Anslinger headed up the federal bureau of narcotics from early 1930s till 1962. He was appointed that position by his father in law who as head of the the US treasury dept was also backing the plastics giant . Making the natural fibers illegal ensured the survival of the synthetic manmade hemp, know today as Nylon and plastics.
Several good films on this matter are:
Billion Dollar Crop. Australian 1994 film outlines the history of the illegalization as well as the missed opportunities for a better healthier happier more eco friendly planet and lifestyle. Lumber mills currently in operation could process hemp fibers to make superior quality building materials to what we have now including cement steel cotton oil and wood to name a few of the thousands of uses for natural hemp products derived from fibers grown in a 60-90 day time frame rather than 50 - 100 years.
Grass. Narrated by Woody Harrelson this 90 minute epic time travels you thru the last 80 -100 years of hemps history in North America and the US's efforts to legislate morality mainly thru fear tactics and criminalization. The film also calls out the amount of money wasted on the War on Drugs and is current thru the late 90s.
Reefer Madness The original propaganda film. This film is laughable and is blatantly misleading in its information. It is however a good insight into the minds who know not what they are talking about.
The American government seems to think deliberate lies and propaganda is the way to go whether its the Commies, WMDs or Weed . Scary lies. I hope some of the films will clear your head of any of the fear wrongly instilled for control purposes. No wonder our parents were so paranoid! They certainly didn't have the access to information we do now. As we share information the pendulum will swing back but at what cost to our host planet Earth? Plastics is a very long lasting toxic manmade mess bound to this planet far longer than you or I will ever be.
That reminds me of the ozone problem. One pound of CFCs or R12 (the most common refrigerant for AC systems fridges freezers office and auto AC ice machines hairspray or rattle can propellants') destroys 37,000 pounds of the ozone layer over a 400 year period. What this means is the cfcs your grandparents' let loose when they were young haven't even begun to do their damage. Several generations since our grandparents days have released mega tonnes of this harmful product through leaks carelessness lack of concern and accidents. A typical car uses 2 pounds R12 however there is a new refrigerant R 134. We don't know its perils yet.
We don't have any proof of R12 or cfcs doing any damage. Its not like the ozone is being depleted and the water being warmed more causing hurricanes out of the ordinary or that the polar ice caps are melting or anything like that.
So far no signs at all. The US backed out of the Kyoto clean air accord further proving there is no problem. We all know where there's a problem big bro USA is there to help us all out,,,, of our resources.
